Cello Fun!  Cool websites, fun cello stuff, etc.

Utah Symphony - Utah Opera Education events

The Symphony has lots of opportunities for young musicians including "Lollipops" concerts, chances to meet the orchestra, play in masterclasses with visiting soloists and even volunteer to help out during concerts with their Youth Guild program!

CelloTalks is a wonderful blog by David Finckel, cellist formerly of the Emerson String Quartet.  He has mini cello lessons, tips and even videos comparing things like different kinds of bridges and strings.
What a great resourse for all of us!!

Audition for the Utah Youth Symphony and Ensembles

Conducted by an amazing mentor or mine, Barbara Scowcroft (Utah Symphony Violinist),  these orchestras gives students of various skill levels a chance to perform unabridged symphonic works - with full strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion.  I got my orchestral start in Barbara's group, and I still remember how exciting it was to play those huge symphonies at a young age.  Now I am fortunate to get to coach some of the cello sectionals and witness that same excitement in the next generation of musicians.  Utah Youth Junior Symphony is for intermediate students and the UY-Symphony and UY-Philharmonic are for more advanced players in high school.  See their website for ongoing auditions.
